I just (as in last night) got a new bartending job and read this as I was working. It was a salient point.

I&#039;m curious to hear the answers, I&#039;ve dabbled with using mnemonics to remember long lists, but what I need to do is remember who&#039;s ordering what, where it is, and how much it costs - and as you may recall, I&#039;m not the best with remembering things...

I will turn drinks into images - say a coconut for Malibu, a hydraulic jack for Jack Daniels, a balance beam for Jim Beam, the sun for Corona - with a mnemonic for the price of that drink, and then I link it to the person. The problem is I struggle to create and associate these memories quickly enough, and then get confused further by mixers and special requests (two squeezes of lime or in a tall glass). When the bar gets busy and the same people are making different orders, it gets confusing!]]></description>
